Sophie Lancaster has been an Ecological Consultant since 2013, after completing her Master’s degree in Environmental Consultancy. Sophie project manages sites for planning, ranging from Preliminary Ecological Appraisals to extensive mitigation projects requiring protected species licenses and translocations.

Sophie’s MSc thesis was produced on behalf of Pond Net and contributed to the nationwide study that made eDNA an accepted survey method in 2014. She has Natural England Class licences for bats and great crested newt (level 1) and is a pro-active botanist, aiming to be at a standard to undertake specialist botanical surveys in the near future. Sophie is also a bat carer for Hampshire; rehabilitating injured bats for release back into the wild, consequently, she has a first-hand understanding of bat behaviour, which has come in useful for designing mitigation for bats in planning.
