James graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2020 after achieving a First-class degree in Biology BSc. He has since looked to improve his ecological skills through a role in a consultancy conducting protected species surveys on a range of species (including great crested newt, bats and reptiles).

James then went on to diversify his ecological knowledge through a 9 month placement in the conservation team of a water company. Whilst there, James specialised in invasive non-native species and biosecurity, developing a training program rolled out to over 1500 staff and risk assessing the company’s raw water transfers.

James is passionate about conservation and to this end has spent time in Kenya, working on developing conservancies around the Masai Mara. He also volunteered for the Bat Conservation Trust’s out of hours helpline last year.
